I was 10-years old when Aku-Aku was published; a book I discovered about 2 years later. While my friends looked up to Mickey Mantle and Bart Starr, I thought Thor Heyerdahl was the coolest guy on the planet. He was a courageous and fearless adventurer whose writings introduced me to the allure of the south pacific.  I still have admiration for his memory today even though some of his theories have been discredited. I’ve wanted to see Easter Island ever since reading Aku-Aku over 50 years ago.  Link to photos   Home
