Yaroslavl is the oldest known Russian town on the Volga River. Legend says that Yaroslavl was founded in the early 11th century by Prince Yaroslavl on the very spot where he killed a bear. There is a somber World War II memorial there. It is estimated that 25 million Russians died in World War II. I had a very good traveler’s day strolling around the picturesque town of Yaroslavl.
